The Life
& Times of Commander Bill King

Born in 1910, Commander Bill King has led a remarkable life. As a child of 12
he joined the Royal Navy College at Darthmouth. He is the
only Submarine Commander to captain submarines from start to finish in
WW2, from Norway in 1939
through to covert operations against the Japanese in the Far East throughout 1944/45.

In the late 1960’s he took
part in the famous lone-sailor Golden Globe Race. His yacht capsized of
the Cape of Good Hope in a hurricane and he survived. He was the first round
the world sailor ever to sail the 5 Capes, alone. He went on to
achieve even greater sailing triumphs as a lone sailor. He has been a
visionary, mentor, advisor and councillor to all those who both dream
of and strive to doing the extraordinary at sea. This is his story.
