In the late 1960’s he took part in the famous lone-sailor Golden Globe Race. His yacht capsized of the Cape of Good Hope in a hurricane and he survived. Though he was out of the race, the following year, he resumed his journey to sail around the world. He was the first to sail the 5 Capes, alone. He has been a visionary, mentor, advisor and councillor to all those who both dream of and strive to doing the extraordinary at sea. This is his story.
